Project Ragan an in-school arts residency program, presents intensive instruction in components of our traditional Ragan Art Academy VAPA standard curriculum. The program has been successfully produced at the Hammer Museum.

Project Ragan offers one-week programs of two-hour daily sessions. The two hours can be for one class or split between two classes. We are flexible and can accommodate the scheduling needs of each site. We currently offer two programs that culminate with a school exhibition.

Introduction to Figure Drawing

Introduction to Figure Drawing provides life-drawing instruction with a professional model to art classes. This one-week program was developed for the Hammer Museum where it has been successfully produced for four summers.

Project Art History

Project Art History is offered to world history classes where it is integrated into the curricular needs of the site. We create appropriate projects ranging from Lascaux to Contemporary art. We also bring in images and artifacts like a papyrus page of the Book of the Dead to spark the imagination of the students. Our curriculum includes world cultures as well as Western Art History. Students have an opportunity to work in various media as they learn about historical cultures.

It was so challenging to find good-quality art classes for teens… everyone wanted to know when the next one would happen. - Susan Yank, Assistant Director, Academic Programs at the Hammer Museum, on Ragan Art Academy
This year we were so fortunate to welcome the talented and creative team from the Ragan Art Academy/Project Ragan into our sixth grade classrooms. They offered a program that seamlessly integrated visual arts into our History and Social Studies curriculum in a way that enhanced the experience of our students and helped bring their learning to life. I found the entire staff, from the director to the instructor, to be extremely professional and dedicated to the goals of this partnership…. I see tremendous potential to grow our relationship with this program and look forward to the positive impact I am certain this will have on our students, our school and our community. - John Resendez Dean of Students Larchmont Charter School

This program is supported by grants from the Stolaroff Family Foundation and The Diller-Von Furstenberg Family Foundation.
